One of our oldest heirloom bulbs, Checkered Lily It must be planted in the fall right away as the bulb is somewhat small like a crocus but is a bit more fragile. But the good news is once it’s planted, it’s hardy and wonderful! If planted later towards winter you will get leaves but perhaps not flowers until the second year so do get them planted right away.
Checkered Fritillaria are amazing plants. They are recorded as early as 1572 for how long they have been cultivated. Grass-like foliage and a sturdy stem support a unique checkered pattern flower. Easy to grow in moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. They multiply naturally year after year.
