The Seed Savers Exchange - (Brassica napus) Popularized in Westport, MA, by brothers Aden and Elihu Macomber, who brought seed home from the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition. SSE’s stock is from Russell Davis, a Westport farmer who obtained it in 1940. Known for its smooth skin which is easily cleaned for the market. The Seed Savers Exchange - Looking for a highly productive cucumber that tastes great fresh or pickled? Then this mild, crisp variety is for you! Fruits measure 7" in length and 2 ½" in diameter and turn from greenish-white to ivory and, finally, to slightly yellow at maturity. This historic variety continues to produce even in hot weather; it was introduced in 1893 by W. Atlee Burpee of Philadelphia from seeds obtained from a customer in New York state and is also known as ‘Albino’ and ‘Long White.’ 58 days.

The impressively large pink beefsteak tomatoes have large lobes and deep ribbing. Some fruits may have moderate cracking, but they are remarkably blemish-free with respect to their size—a whopping 1½-2 pounds and nearly 5-6" in width. The Seed Savers Exchange - This heirloom syrup sorghum towers over the garden at 7-9'-tall and produces seed heads with attractive red glumes (and an occasional black glume for added interest). The grain itself is red, plump, and easy to thresh. It was donated to Seed Savers Exchange by Wayne Hayes of Annville, Kentucky, in 2015. Wayne and his family have made syrup from this sorghum cane since 1948. Each plant produces 3-6 tillers.

Seedsaver Exchange - What makes this productive plum tomato so unique? It has very little acid, allowing its natural sweetness to elevate the overall flavor of salads, sauces, and other dishes.
Tall, wispy plants produce pale-yellow tomatoes in clusters of three to four; tomatoes measure 2.5-3" long and 1.5-2" wide. Seed Savers Exchange received this midseason-maturing tomato in 2016 from Dr. Jeff McCormack, founder of Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. He noted that the tomatoes hail from Coeburn, Virginia; have been passed down for generations; and are likely named for Willie Yates, whose grandfather also grew the variety. Indeterminate.
