The Seed Savers Exchange - SSE member Ron Thuma of Kansas received this variety in 1992 from George and Bessie Jennings of Waverly, Kansas. They claimed that their ancestor “Grandpa Barnes” grew the variety during the 1860s but only as an ornamental plant—he thought tomatoes were poisonous. The pink beefsteak tomato is slightly sweet with a juicy, meaty texture and has 1-3 fruit per cluster. Indeterminate, 75-85 days from transplant.
