Petit Gris De Rennes Melon, 1700's Heirloom, Organic

The Seed Savers Exchange - La crème de la crème of French cantaloupes. First noted in the garden of the Bishop of Rennes nearly 400 years ago. Petit Gris translates as “little grey,” named for its appearance before ripening. Fruits typically weigh 2-3 pounds and have a mustard and olive speckled rind. The flavorful sweet orange flesh is reminiscent of brown sugar. 80-85 days.

Instructions - Melons love the heat. Sow seeds outdoors in 12" diameter hills after danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed. Space hills 6' apart in all directions. Seeds will germinate in 4-10 days. Can also be started indoors 2-3 weeks before the last frost.
