Prior to the Civil War, one of the most commonly grown and best documented tomato varieties in the country. Listed in the 1843 Shaker seed catalog at New Lebanon, NY, the Large Red tomato is vital for ante-bellum garden recreations and historic farms. Fearing Burr in his 1865 book stated, "From the time of the introduction of the tomato to its general use in this country, the Large Red was almost the only kind cultivated, or even commonly known." 2 x 4 in. deep-red fruits are heavily ribbed or lobed and flattened in shape - quite distinct from modern tomatoes. Sweet with a bit of tang and some flavor intricacy. Vines provide medium foliage cover. We introduced Large Red for historical reasons, but we were surprised and pleased during our 1996 trials to find that it became a favorite of a local restaurant's chef. Dark Galaxy Tomato - What an incredible tomato! The color and taste is absolutely great. As the tomato ripens it gets these starry notes on it that give it an ethereal galatical view, hence the name. The creator of this is Brad Gates from Wild Boar Farms and this year we have a few of his tomatoes we are offering this year. The fruit is 1-3 oz in size. The fruit starts off green and then the blossom end starts to turn red while the tops exposed to the sun darken in color to near black and purple. At the peak of ripeness the two ends meet and create a beautiful tomato skin. We will be planting quite a few of these next season. It did not have any issues of blight, blossom end rot or other fungal diseases. Indeterminate, 80 days from transplant. Federle Tomato (Paste Tomato)

The Seed Savers Exchange - Large, red, globe tomato, midseason maturing, indeterminate growth habit. Paragon has a good flavor but is not as sweet as today’s gardeners often expect. Alexander W. Livingston (1821-1898), probably did more to popularize the tomato in America than any other individual. His company bred and released 35 tomato varieties between 1870 and 1941. His breeding program and vigorous promotion transformed Americans’ perception of tomatoes. His first tomato introduction in 1870, “The Paragon Tomato,” was described by Livingston as the first “perfectly and uniformly smooth tomato ever introduced.” Mike Dunton’s Livingston Project: Our Paragon strain comes from longtime SSE member Mike Dunton’s Victory Seed Company. By the late 1990s, the Livingston tomatoes had all but disappeared from the seed trade. Those few being sold were often not true to type for their historic descriptions. Mike Dunton has spent the last twenty years researching and locating authentic Livingston tomatoes. PRIVACY POLICY

If for any reason you are not happy with a purchase, please email us at andre@fireflyfarmandmercantile.com so we can assist.&nbsp; We do provide refunds up to 10 days of you receiving merchandise. We may ask for the product to be returned to be eligible for a refund. We do not do refunds for shipping unless it is something we feel we could have done better. Carriers often don’t deliver based on their own timelines but you can always pick up at our garden shop too. Unlike most online garden online retailers we have a business location too, so come in out and visit our farm.

Shipping Policy: 
Seasonal Availability: We typically have more than one season of products available to order.&nbsp; We separate these at time of fulfillment. Shipping is typically collected for the shipment leaving the soonest and for pre-ordered items, we will send you a shipping invoice to pay before your merchandise arrives.&nbsp;
Pre-calculated weights:
Sometimes the products purchased may weigh more or less than the calculated shipping rate. We try our best to determine the weights based on current and past inventory.&nbsp; We do provide refunds proactively and will communicate accordingly.&nbsp;
We try our best to offer the right services for you at checkout. If we see an opportunity for a more desirable service we will reach out to you. Please ensure we have a good contact number or email&nbsp; so we can do so.&nbsp;
United States Postal Service and UPS services go out Monday through Friday. This allows us to ensure we provide a quality product at a reasonable rate. Any delivery times are just estimates from the carrier once they receive the package. We cannot change this due to Shopify’s policy. I would if I could as it can lead to some confusion.
We are a small garden shop and have very little pull with any carrier (and seriously who really does with USPS or any other). For the most part UPS timelines have been the most consistent. But there are not delivery dates but days your package will be in transit once we drop it off. In average we take 1-4 business days to fulfill orders and then the carrier’s approximate shipping times are added to that.&nbsp;

SHIPPING POLICY

We accept various forms for payment. Currently we accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express as well as Google Pay and Shop Pay.
We strive to deliver on what we say we are going to do. Pre-orders are orders that are being taken without inventory on hand. The advantage is you get a great price, but sometimes crops just don't yield what is expected. We will use many different suppliers to fulfill your orders as best as possible. We won't substitute without your permission so please make sure you leave your best contact information so we can reach out to you. On occasion if unable to reach you, we will simply send the substitute product but you are welcome to call us once receiving it and letting us know you’d like a refund on it.
