Rocky Mountain Penstemon can be found in the Rocky Mountains, up to around 10,000 feet in elevation. It loves full sun to partial sun and its early summer blue blooms are a beautiful sight.  It is found in sage brush, pinyon pine, and aspen-conifer habitats. It is drought tolerant and often used in xeriscape plantings. Hummingbirds, bees and butterflies seek out this native and rely on it for nectar.
