Step 1: Dig Your Station
Choose an open, sunny location in your garden. Dig a hole roughly 1 square foot wide and 5 inches deep. Reserve the excavated topsoil in a wheelbarrow or large bucket.

Step 2: Mix the Clay Sealant
Thoroughly mix your reserved topsoil with the 1.5 lbs of Bentonite Clay Granules in your wheelbarrow until evenly distributed. (Note: If working with extremely sandy soil, you may need up to 2.5 lbs of clay to ensure a proper seal).

Step 3: Backfill, Shape & Slope
Place the soil-clay mixture back into the hole. Pack the soil down firmly, leaving the surface 1 inch lower than the surrounding ground so water naturally pools inside. Slope the mixture slightly inward toward the center to create varying water depths.

Step 4: Water & Cure (24-Hour Bond)
Water the area evenly with a gentle spray. Let the clay set up and bond for 24 hours. Sprinkle lightly with water every few hours during the day to help the bentonite clay expand and create a watertight seal with your native soil.

Step 5: Add the Sand & Landing Stones
Once cured, spread 4 lbs of Mineral Sand (included in the Complete Kit, or sourced locally for the Eco-Light Kit) evenly over the clay base and smooth it over. Place a few flat decorative stones or gravel pieces around the shallow edges to serve as dry "perch rocks."

Step 6: Dust & Hydrate
Sprinkle 1–2 teaspoons of Flutter Dust™ across the top of the wet sand layer. Gently mist with water until a shallow puddle forms. Flutter Pool™ is ready for its first visitors!

Step 7: Maintain & Refresh
Keep your sanctuary active all season long! Add a fresh sprinkle (1–2 tsps) of Flutter Dust™ every few weeks to replenish essential minerals. During dry spells when no rain is in the forecast, simply sprinkle fresh water into Flutter Pool™ to keep the sand damp, cool, and inviting.
