Renee's Garden - A cottage garden favorite, Dark Night's buds resemble jeweled Victorian brooches that unfurl into densely petaled, frilled, "pincushion" shaped flowers. $2.89
$2.99
Renee's Garden - Cottage garden favorites since the colonial era, scabiosas’ tightly closed buds look like Victorian brooches which unfold into densely petaled, frilly centered flowers. Perfect for sunny borders, these long-stemmed 2 to 3-inch “pincushion” flowers attract Monarch, Fritillary, and Skipper butterflies throughout the summer. Our premium Dutch selection is more upright in habit and contains all the best old-fashioned colors including deep crimson, mulberry, soft salmon, rose pink, lilac and white.

Black Knight Pincushion Flower, Scabiosa
$3.75
$3.95
Seed Exchange - These stunning, dark-maroon flowers have enchanted gardeners (and bees and butterflies) since the early 1600s in England, when the variety was called ‘Blackamoor’s Beauty’ and ‘Mournful Widow.’ The honey-scented flowers have blooms that measure from 1½-2.5" and resemble a dark-satin pincushion with white-tipped pins. The versatile variety works well in both borders and garden beds, and its long stems make it ideal for fresh cutting. (Scabiosa atropurpurea)
Annual plants grow to 24-30 inches tall
White, blue, maroon, and red flowers
Long lasting cut flower
Tolerates partial shade
Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds
100 Seeds
Instructions - Sow seeds outdoors one week after last frost. Plants prefer average moist soil. Water during dry spells. Remove spent blossoms regularly to prolong blooming.
Sow 1/8" Deep
Thin 8-12" Apart
Germination 10-14 days
Full Sun to Partial Sun
