Lemon Mint - A wonderful addition to teas when young or in bloom, substitute for oregano when older.  An ancient medicine used by Native Americans. It is a beloved flower for hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. Its scent is lemony but can smell and taste like oregano as it ages. Botanical Name: Monarda Citridora

Characteristics: 

  • Self-seeding annual plants in zones 3-6, perennial in 7-10
  • Plants grow to 24-30 inches tall
  • Purple flower bracts attract bees
  • Leaves are aromatic and citrus-flavored

Instructions -  Sow seeds indoors just beneath surface of soil. Plant out in early spring just before last frost. Remove spent blossoms regularly to prolong blooming. Or direct sow after the last frost.
