🌱 How to Grow ‘Perfect Mix’ Nicotiana

1. Sowing the Seeds (Light is Key!):
Nicotiana seeds are extremely small. They require light to germinate, so do not cover them with soil.

• Indoors: Start 6–8 weeks before the last frost. Surface-sow onto a moist seed-starting mix and press down gently so the seeds have good contact with the soil.
• Outdoors: Direct sowing is possible in late spring, but indoor starting provides a much earlier bloom season.

2. The Best Spot:
‘Perfect Mix’ thrives in full sun but is one of the best flowering annuals for partial shade. In regions with very hot summers, afternoon shade actually helps the flowers stay open longer and prevents the colors from fading.

3. Soil & Water:

• Provide rich, well-draining soil.
• Watering: They appreciate consistent moisture. If the soil dries out completely, the plants may wilt quickly, though they are usually quick to recover once watered.

4. Maintenance:

• Spacing: Space plants 12 inches apart. Because of their uniform habit, they look spectacular when planted in a "mass" or a dense row.
• Deadheading: To keep the "Perfect" look, snip off the central flower stalk once it finishes blooming. This will signal the plant to send up numerous side-shoots, doubling your flower count!
