Story has it that the San Marzano originated in Peru before making its way to the Kingdom of Naples in the 1700's. Here it is thought it was first planted in the area of San Marzano sul Sarno, where it was grown in the rich volcanic soil and shadow of Mount Vesuvius. 85 days from transplant.
