Renee's Garden - These lovely climbing nasturtiums have charming soft primrose yellow flowers and bright green foliage, much different from the usual bold and brassy color mix. They grow easily in any well-drained soil and will gracefully disguise neglected areas or twine along a fence, trellis, or wall, providing a summer arbor of pretty lily-pad-shaped leaves and long-spurred flowers. As a wonderful bonus, both the bright flowers and leaves are deliciously edible with a spicy watercress flavor. Characteristics: Heirloom Selection Hummingbird favorites Pollinators & Beneficials Annual vine Spring/summer/fall bloom Frost tender Instructions - To start outdoors, sow seeds in spring once all danger of frost is over in full sun (or part shade in hot climates). Nasturtiums need no added fertilizer in most soils. Poke seeds into well-worked soil about 1 inch deep and 3 to 4 inches apart. Press the soil firmly over the seeds and keep them moist. When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin 10 inches apart so plants will have ample room to grow. To start early indoors, sow 2 seeds each in individual 4-inch pots of well-drained seed starting mix 3 weeks before the last expected frost date. Cover 1 inch deep. Provide a strong light source. When seedlings have several sets of leaves, pinch out the weaker seedling leaving 1 per pot. After outdoor temperatures are evenly above 50°F (10°C) gradually acclimate to outdoor conditions. Transplant seedlings into the garden 10 to 12 inches apart in full sun. Climbing nasturtiums are very reliable and easy to grow in any well-drained soil. Help them to twine up their supports, then they’ll climb easily and bloom nonstop. Do not let plants dry out during the blooming season. You can also plant Moonlight to tumble along the ground. Seminole Pumpkin Cheese Squash - An excellent squash from the Cheese Squash families- If in a zone 5 or colder, go with the Long Island Cheese Squash. This one needs a long season. Southern Exposure Seed Exchange - A very sweet squash or pumpkin and is a great choice for hot and humid areas. The fruits are 6-8" and bell-shaped pumpkins and will keep for 1 year at room temperature. 95 days. Seminole Pumpkin, 1500's Heirloom, Organic

Back in Stock! - Southern Exposure Seed Exchange - 130 days. [Family heirloom from Erlene Melancon in east Texas. Erlene said that she has been spinning green cotton for years and that her grandmother loved using colored cotton in her quilts.] The fibers are light olive green and can be spun off the seed. Harvest the bolls shortly after they open so that the fiber does not fade in the sunlight. Once it is spun and washed it turns yellowish-green. 5 ft. tall plants. Erlene's Green Cotton, Heirloom, Organic

Our next stock arrives around 3/26, it has been moving off the shelf so fast. It is an amazing plant for any garden. Southern Exposure Seed Exchange - 120 days , Given by Alice Gamewel via Charles Hoehnle. Introduced 2008 by SESE. A beautiful plant with dark red stems and leaves. 3-5 ft. tall, grows well in a container or in a flower bed. Green when it first emerges but soon develops its red coloring. The cotton is a short staple white. Brown Cotton was grown pre-Civil War by slaves who were not permitted to grow white cotton. There were also green, blue, yellow and poink naturally colored cottons. These heirloom cottons are now quite rare. Cannot ship to TX.
