Tiger Lilies are the easiest of all lilies and probably of all bulbs to care for. They are dependable bloomers year after year. You will be rewarded with dozens of downward facing blooms on each stem. Marble Ball Dahlia's purple and soft white blossoms create a party in every bouquet they are in. Pair with pink celosia's and it is quite the display!   We grow all dahlias right here in Cashton, Wisconsin!  Ball Dahlias are wonderful plants that provide structure and continuous color to any garden with minimal effort. We add a few alfafla pellets in the hole and backfill with topsoil amended with compost. We space this variety 18" apart.  We recommend to simply pinch back the shoots after about 3-4 weeks to encourage branching.  You can amend soil with 10-10-10 or something similar. Just make sure the first number (nitrogen) is 5 or 10. You can fertilize every 4 weeks to help achieve larger blossoms. For 90% of us, don’t water until your Dahlia sprouts. If your soil is very dry, water the soil first and then let it stand for 30 minutes before planting. Mulch around your plant leaving bare dirt directly above the tuber. Nerines have several names. Nerine Bowdenii goes by Guernsey Lilies, Jersey Lilies or Cape Flowers and because of their habit of the leaves coming separately from the blossoms, they get referred to as Naked Ladies. We receive these in the spring while other colors we receive in the fall.  The leaves pop up, the leaves die and sometime later, lilies start popping up and you have blooms before you know it.  They bloom in late summer and the pink color is a wonderful addition to the garden. Night Rider Lilies almost black blooms are wonderful contrasts to the light colored lilies and other common perennials.  They are striking when bunched en masse or as placed as specimens in a thoughtful location. Our Peruvian Daffodil or Hymenocallis 'Festalis' - is a beautiful plant for borders, beds and containers. Our Reuben Pineapple Lily or Eucomis - makes a great plant for borders in warmer climates or is ideal for containers.
