'Rebecca's World' Dahlia (Cactus) - The Red & White Color Combinations that the flowers will show vary greatly. Here are two examples and there cna be dozens of others. The first picture is stunning and this is what many dahlia lovers are going for. It could take all summer to get a bloom like this but the journey is worth it! It is show stopping. If you could get this flower to become stable like the first picture, you'd have folks knocking down your door. We grow all of the dahlias we offer on our farm in Cashton, Wisconsin. Cactus dahlias are wonderful plants that provide structure and color to any garden with minimal effort. They do rather well in the middle to back of your beds or even in stand-alone rows. They reward gardeners with an abundance of blooms starting in mid to late summer through frost. Typically they are not bothered by diseases and have attractive foliage until frost. They provide a bit of whimsy and hold up well against spring rains and storms. They are longer and narrowing of a tulip. Our bulbs are close to 5” in circumference ( 12+ cm) which makes them some of the biggest you can purchase and are sourced from Holland. Rilona's rare color will make guests wonder in awe. The salmon colored blooms have an elegance fitting for the holidays in any setting. Additionally, they are an heirloom variety and have been around for over 150 years. It had a resurgence in popularity in the 1960’s. Our bulbs are some of the largest available at 36/38 cm. It is pretty common to see 32+ cm sizing which means they are probably 32/33 cm in size. Bigger bulbs means bigger and more blooms for the holidays. The 'Alpha' gladiolus are always so popular in the store as this shade of purple is always so wonderful in the garden. We provide them in 12/14 cm bulbs (technically corms) so you get the best available. Gladiolus are deer, rabbits, and rodent resistant. Great for butterflies and other pollinators Ships starting in mid to late March Key Planting Tips Plant gladiolus 4" deep with an amended soil with 10-10-10 or something similar. Just make sure the first number (nitrogen) is 5 or 10. Or plant with a finished compost. Stagger your planting every 2 weeks so you can enjoy blooms continuously all summer. To lift and store for winter, simply go dig up corms after the foliage has faeded to yellow/brown. Separate the mother corm and compost/dispose and most of the time you will have two new corms. We sepearate those usually when we dig them up after we hose them off. Dry in a single layer out of the sun for a 10-14 days then we simply place in netting or crates for winter. They are not stored with any medium - this is partly why Grandma loved them so much.

Amaryllis is commonly used when referring to Hippeastrum. These flowers are commonly used for winter time blooms for those of us up north while our southern customers get to enjoy these in winter and in the summer. Simply plant your bulbs, water, and give sunshine and in 6-8 weeks, you will have beautiful blossoms. You can keep your bulbs planted to enjoy their green leaves and bring them right outside at spring. They will bloom periodically.
