Dark and glossy zuchinnis have become the main zuchinni sold and grown in the U.S. Black Beauty hails from my childhood state of Connecticut. This was developed by John Scarchuk.  The plants remain somewhat compact and provide loads of zuchinnis. This particular variety is best picked with 6-8" long.  45-65 days. We source this from multiple places inlcuding Seedsavers Exchange, Southern Exposure, or High Mowing but the seed is always organic. Productive, tasty Italian variety with attractively striped fruits. High Mowing Organic Seeds - Dark and light green striping is less defined than Costata Romanesco. The flavor is slightly nutty; milder than Costata but more flavorful than most zucchini. Straight fruit with very slight ribbing over the lighter green striping. Costata Romanesco Zucchini, 1600's Heirloom and a Firefly Favorite - A favorite of ours! This squash or zucchini thrives all across America.  It doesn't seem to be plagued my mildew and it is not bothered by bugs, it just keeps producing all summer long. A lighter speckled green zuchinni with ribbed edges. We enjoy harvesting at almost all sizes from 6" to 12" long. This a zuchinni that we actually plant twice as we cannot get enough of it.  We source from various companies to keep this one on our shelf.  Male flowers are edible and delicious! This is our favorite zucchini.  The skins are tender, they are perfect for grilling, roasting, and stuffing. We have to source them differently each year but we strive for organic.  Perfectly spherical light green fruits with white speckling - a unique specialty item! Heirloom from southern France with a nice nutty flavor and great texture for fresh eating or freezing. Renee's Garden - Italian heirloom yields nicely shaped, light green fruits you’ll find meltingly tender, custardy, and delicious–never watery or mushy. Early bearing vines with marbled leaves. Zucchetta Rampicanta Squash, pre-1850 Italian Heirloom, Organic Zucchini $3.75 $4.25
Seedsaver Exchange - This marvelous Italian heirloom delivers both in the garden and on the plate! Highly productive plants bear plenty of long, slender, curved fruits that wrap around vines, trellises, and sometimes one another. Squash measures 2-3" in diameter, widening to 4-5" at the bulbous blossom end and weighing from 5-8 pounds at maturity. ‘Zucchetta Rampicante’ excels as a summer squash—it’s tender, mild, and sweet—but has also long been used in Italy as a winter squash in pies, ravioli, and gnocchi. Immature fruits are pale green with white streaks; mature squash are tan with white streaks.  Seed Savers Exchange received this variety in the early 2000s from Jaime Poris, an Exchange lister in Boulder Creek, California, who had purchased the variety in 1990 from R.H. Shumway.
