This one is amazing! It wasn’t available to us this year in a packet so we brought it in bulk. Its very bright green leaves are amazing mixed into fresh dishes. It is still High Mowing and is organic seed but we are working on our organic handling license so it cannot be labeled organic.  High Mowing Organic Seeds - Bright lime green, ruffled leaves add great contrast to salad mixes. Hoary Vervain is a beautiful native that thrives in woodland edges, prairies with rich and loam or in most gardens.  Hoary Vervain is a perennial that reseeds itself as it is short-lived and lives for four or five years.  This is the host plant for the Common Buckeye Butterfly. Idaho Fescue- Rocky Mountain and California Native from $3.00 $3.95
Idaho Fescue Grass is a cool-season silvery blue native bunchgrass that grows to heights of 40" and has very fine blades of grass. There no rhizomes and reproduces from seed. It remains green all winter. It is found in the Rocky Mountain corridor and westwards and grows in elevations up 5,000 to 10,000 ft. It can also be found in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Animals depend on this grass for forage and cover throughout the year. Indiangrass is a wonderful additional to any garden border where you need height and some drama. It can create backdrops and wind breaks for other plantings. Its giant golden seedheads provide beauty and will help feed wildlife all winter long. Little Bluestem - Prairie Native from $3.00
Little Bluestem is perhaps the most popular native grass in the USA.  It's beautiful blue-green foliage turns coppery red in the fall and provides wonderful winter interest. This is a must native plant for anyone who wants to encourage wildlife and beneficial insects as it provides tons of cover and forage. It was the most dominant of all the grasses 100 years ago across the United States and of course Canada.  The only states it is not native to is California, Nevada, Oregon, Alaska and Hawaii. Perhaps the most wondrous sight in any prairie is a mass planting of Prairie Blazingstar. They are resilient, pollinator magnets, provide cover for birds, insects of all types and grow deep roots.  They can reach 4’ tall and are hardy to USDA Zone 4. These perennials are a crowd please in a natural setting or a garden border. They are excellent cut flowers and excel in dried arrangements.  There are several different Liatris and all can play an important part in any ecosystem. It is a joy on our farm as it pops up in various places and is a buzz of activity with native bees, butterflies and praying mantises too!  It has a wide native range, from Alberta to Arkansasa and across much of the central United States. Prairie Ironweed - Native from $3.00
Prairie Ironweed really doesn't deserve weed in its name. It is a stalwart of planting in tough places like clay, loves moist and damp soils and will do well even in gardens with great loam.  It is beautiful for mass plantings and can be used for cut flowers. It develops really deep roots that help erosion and filter water.
